Global Health Electives
Overview

Established in 2012 by Dr. Majid Sadigh, the Global Health Program was founded on the belief that education is a sustainable and powerful means of improving health outcomes and promoting social justice.

The Global Health Elective offers a distinctive opportunity to observe clinical practices in diverse cultural and often resource-limited environments. This elective aims to deepen understanding of the interconnections between health, human rights, and global socioeconomic disparities, thereby preparing participants to become effective global health advocates.

We are committed to enhancing capacity-building efforts in healthcare education, service, and research, in collaboration with our international academic partner institutions. Through these partnerships, we strive to address health disparities in underserved communities across the globe.

Mutual Respect

We believe that global health partnerships must be reciprocal, with all parties benefiting from shared learning, collaboration, and exchange. Our program is designed to ensure mutual growth and value for both host and visiting institutions.

Bi-Directionality

Our Global Health Program is proudly bi-directional in its exchange. Through our Global Health Scholars Program, we host Junior Faculty Members from our Partner Sites for 8-week observerships.

Reciprocity

Our Global Health Program is grounded in mutual respect, recognizing the value of every partner's knowledge, experience, and culture. We strive to build relationships based on trust, transparency, and long-term commitment.

Equity

We are dedicated to advancing equity by addressing systemic imbalances and ensuring inclusive access to opportunities.

Cultural Sensitivity

Cultural humility and sensitivity guide our interactions. We are committed to listening, learning, and adapting our approaches to respect the cultural contexts and practices of the communities we serve.

Sustainability

We prioritize capacity building, local leadership, and long-term engagement to ensure our efforts have lasting impact beyond the duration of any single program.
